Track Meet
The John Hall Elementary Track meet will be held this Friday at Upton Middle School at 11:30.
The meet will last until 2:00. All third, fourth, and fifth grade students will participate in four events.
Third graders do a standing long jump, a 60 M dash, a running long jump, and a 100 M dash.
In addition, each class from all three schools will compete in a 400 M relay race. Mr. Pfahler has
selected four boys and four girls who will represent our classroom by running in this event.
Please check the weather and have your child dress accordingly. We’d love to have you join us!
Technology Festival
The Ren Baldwin Technology Festival will be held on Friday, May 10th, at the St. Joseph High
School. Doors will open at 6:00 P.M. Come see the many ways our students use technology in
the classroom.
Swimming
We will be swimming at the St. Joseph High School pool every day next week. Your child will need
a swimsuit, towel, and plastic bag (for the wet suit and towel). Girls will need a rubber band to tie
their hair back. This water safety and swimming course offers instruction in survival swimming.
The students will be introduced to land and water use of a personal floating device. They will work
on skills in independent swimming movements, water entry, buoyancy, and floating positions. We
leave each day at 9:25 and return at 11:00.
Multiplication Ice Cream Quizzes
Our multiplication quiz challenge for learning Multiplication facts continues! Students have started
earning ice cream scoops, and toppings as they pass quizzes for each level of facts. Please
continue to work with your child on multiplication 0-10. IXL, flashcards, and XtraMath (a new
program we are using) are good tools to practice facts. Students need to be fluent in these facts
by the end of the year.
