Halloween Party
Our party will be from 1:15pm-2:15pm, with the parade at 3:20pm. You may sign out your child after the parade. The purpose for our earlier party is due to us having PE and Art at the end of the day. Students may wear their costumes to school. Please no play weapons.

Nutcracker Date
Please continue to have your student practice all of the songs for our performance at home  https://3rdgradenutcracker.weebly.com/.  The Nutcracker is scheduled for Monday, December 10th, with a school performance at 1:30, and the evening performance at 6:00.  Mark your calendar!

Stuff-A-Truck Food Drive
The Stuff-A-Truck food collection drive has started and runs through November 9.  All food and toiletries go right to our local food bank. Please send non-perishables as you are able, such as:  can goods, baking goods, soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, etc. The classroom that collects the most items will receive free personal pan pizza certificates from Pizza Hut.

Book Orders
Scholastic book order forms went home on Thursday.  If you would like to place an order please order online with code: H2QTM OR send back the form and money by this Friday, October 26th.

Reading Counts
There are only 2 more weeks for your third grader to reach the goal of 15 points for this marking period.  Please check in with your child to make sure they are working towards taking tests to meet this goal.

Conferences
It was great to meet with so many of you last week. If I didn't meet with you in October, we have a conference planned for the week of November 5th. I look forward to a continuing our partnership to ensure the success of your child this year!

Nutcracker Date
As most of you know, the Nutcracker is performed by third graders each year.  Students have already been busy learning all of the songs. Here is the link for your student to practice all of the songs at home  https://3rdgradenutcracker.weebly.com/.  The Nutcracker performance is scheduled for Monday, December 10th, with a school performance at 1:30, and the evening performance at 6:00.  Mark your calendar!

Science and Social Studies Tests
This week we will be having both a Science test on Wednesday, and a Social Studies test on Thursday.  
Review sheets will come home with students on Monday. In Science we have been learning about how
plants reproduce and pass on traits.  Ask your child to tell you how selection works. In Social Studies
we have been learning the basics of Michigan geography, including what makes Michigan special with
our state symbols.  Please use homework time this week to review for these two tests with your child.

Reading Counts
Our Reading Counts program is up and running!  The third grade goal for this marking period is to
earn 15 points.  Be sure to check in with your child to make sure they are reading and working
towards taking tests to meet this goal.  I will be reviewing your child’s progress so far at conferences
this week.

Fall Conferences
If I am not meeting with you this week, I look forward to meeting with you during our  
November 7th and 8th conference times.
